Title: Existence, Uniqueness and Stability of Linear IVPs 

Abstract: The solution of a differntial equation depends on other fields of mathematics like linear algebra, functional analysis etc. The objective of this webinar is to realise the fact that the qualitative properties of the solution to a differential equation heavily depend on linear algebra and functional analysis. In this lecture, stability of a linear initial value problem will be discussed with a glimpse of numerical stability of the initial boundary value problem.

About the Speaker: Dr. Bhupen Deka is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Before joining IITG, he worked at Tezpur University and Assam University. He did his B.Sc. from Cotton College, M.Sc. from IIT Delhi and PhD from IITG and his research interests are in Numerical Analysis, Finite Element Method and Interface Problems.

The talk will be suitable for a general audience (college students are specially welcome), and will be held online via Zoom. It will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page.
